Statements, petitions and questions from the public relating to matters affecting the South East Area Committee.

Any statements, petitions and questions from the public under standing order 32 will be made or presented at the meeting.

The committee received statements from the following members of the public:

 

Virginia Lewis made a statement in support of Letcombe Regis Village Hall Recreation Ground Trust’s application to upgrade its Sports Pavilion; she outlined details of their bid and the potential users of the committee.

 

Catriona Galbraith made a statement in support of Letcombe Regis Parish Council’s application to create two new tennis courts.

·       They would be happy to add netball and basketball lines if required.

·       The club is to provide access to anyone wanting to play tennis, not just club members and there would be a pay and play facility.

·       There would be free taster sessions for both adults and juniors.

·       Membership fees would be set at a low rate of £30 per year for adults and £10 per year for juniors.

·       Disabled members and wheelchair tennis players were welcome.

·       Other funding streams are also being pursued.

 

Martin Hollis made a statement in support of Blewbury and District Brass Band’s application for “community step-up to brass” instrument purchase.

·       This application is about progression for learners.

·       A formal partnership exists between the ban and the Oxfordshire County Music Service.

Minutes:

The committee considered the head of corporate strategy’s report. This set out details of the five applications for capital grants in the South East area.  The South East Area Committee had £29,904 available to allocate in the capital community grants budget for 2012-13.

Officers recommended £4,000. The committee decided to allocate the entire sum applied for, as the applicant addressed some low scoring areas in their statement.

Officers recommended £4,000. The committee decided to allocate the entire sum applied for, as the committee believed there would be wider benefit than shown in the application.

Blewbury and District Brass Band

Community step-up to brass instrument purchase

£3,150

Officers recommended £2,520. The committee decided to allocate the entire sum applied for.
